PJ Personnel is proud to be a Partner for this years Construction Safety Week. The health, safety and wellbeing of our employees and all members of the construction industry is paramount.
Construction Safety Week runs from October 25-29, 2021. It is an initiative of the CIF safety and health subcommittee, in conjunction with the event sponsors. and aims to eliminate accidents at work and to drive continual improvement in safety and health performance.
SLIPS, TRIPS AND FALLS ARE THE SECOND HIGHEST SINGLE CAUSE OF WORKPLACE INJURIES.
It goes without saying that health and safety on construction sites is of paramount importance. While we are aware of the dangers, accidents do happen. The team at PJ Personnel has produced a handy newsletter with health and safety site tips specifically around safely securing telescopic handler loads and avoiding slips, trips and falls on site.
Securing Loads on Teleporters
Always Inspect Teleporter Before Use
Conduct daily visual and functional inspections before working and only start if the machine is in good condition.
Pay Attention When Loading The Teleporter
Always make sure the load does not exceed the max weight. Excessively heavy loads can cause the telehandler to tilt. Most are equipped with a safety system, preventing lifting of loads heavier than allowed. The max weight of the telehandler is stated in the user manual.
Pay Attention When Driving
Don’t get distracted while driving. Make sure the view of route is always optimal. If you are unable to look more than 2m beyond your load, it’s recommended to drive backwards. Also do this when carrying unstable loads/pallets that can slide off forks. Ask for assistance when needed or unsure of load.
